One year after a Mastic man killed a father of three with a bow and arrow, a judge sentenced him to the maximum penalty Tuesday.
Thomas Sirico was sentenced to 25 years to life for murdering 27-year-old Juan Carlos Munoz with a weapon normally used to hunt large animals. Sirico maintained throughout the trial and sentencing that he was drunk and slipped because of his prosthetic leg, setting off the crossbow. However, the victim's brother says he witnessed Sirico argue with Munoz before angrily and intentionally firing the weapon.
Munoz's brother says all the victim wanted was to have a house where he could raise his three children. Full of grief, the victim's mother added that justice has now been served.
