A Suffolk school teacher has pleaded guilty to drunken driving.

Joseph Johnson, 40, teaches fourth grade in the Riverhead School District.

Johnson was arrested and charged with DWI after an incident in Southampton Village last year.

Police say they also found a loaded gun in his car.

Officials say because of issues regarding the search of Johnson's car, the weapons charge has been dropped.

However, Johnson pleaded guilty to the DWI charge yesterday.

Johnson will be sentenced in January.
