Storm Team Meteorologist Jonathan Cubit visited kindergarteners and first graders at The Long Ridge School in Stamford Wednesday.

He also went live with the students during his weather forecasts.

Students have been learning about weather, including how to track and forecast.

They have also learned what to wear depending on the conditions and how to measure temperatures.

The children's teacher says there are several reasons why it's important for students to learn about weather.

"It's to be observant as scientists. Observe everything. For them to learn how to record, how to observe, how to be aware of what's going on around them and learn that different branch of science as well," says science teacher Niina Armstrong.

Armstrong says she hopes students are inspired by Jonathan and see how fun it is to be a meteorologist.
