A Brooklyn teacher from John Jay School for Law is going the extra mile in helping students find their voice.
Shinair Francis teaches 10th grade English at the school and has been teaching for 14 years. She's being recognized for her dedication to her students this Teacher Appreciation Week.
“I love the kids. It's why we do everything that we do," Francis says.
Along with being the AP coordinator for the high school, Francis also introduced the NYPD Options program - providing her students with the opportunity to visit Albany.
She holds students to the highest expectations possible, and it's something her students say they appreciate.
“I just wrapped up my administrative program where I'm aspiring to be a building leader. And hopefully, a principal one day," Francis told News 12.
