Round two of the New York State Open at Bethpage Black finished Wednesday with no big names on the leaderboard, but one former champion as a caddy.
Joey Sindelar, Open champion in 1983 and seven-time winner on the PGA tour, caddied for his son, Jamie, who recently turned professional.
He says that his son is more gifted golfer than he had been in terms of power and his short game.
"Jamie looked at me after a few holes and said, 'Dad, I'm not used to having someone talk to me when I'm that close to hitting the ball,'" said Sindelar.
Jamie Sindelar finished the -2 on one of the countries hardest courses. He remains tied for 11th place.
