It’s the final day of the Republican State Convention in Garden City and News 12 has learned Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman has formally accepted his nomination for governor of New York.

State GOP leaders say a play book exists to help them to win the governor’s race and it was written in Nassau County.

"There's 110,000 more Democrats than Republicans here in Nassau County and yet Bruce Blakeman - Republican county executive, Annie Donnelly - Republican, Republican majority in the legislature, comptroller - they are leading a Republican government, that means the Democrats are voting for it, because they know that is a better way," said Minority Leader State Sen. Rob Ortt.

Party leaders say a strong focus on public safety and a rebuke of socialist policies will appeal to voters beyond county lines or partisan divides.
