Over eight days after the Islanders took care of business with a sweep of the Penguins, they finally know their next opponent.

The Isles will go head to head with the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference semifinals beginning Friday night in Brooklyn. The Hurricanes took all seven games, and then some to complete their series win over the defending champion Capitals. They won in a double-OT thriller on Washington's home ice Wednesday night, 4-3.

The Islanders won three of their four meetings with the Hurricanes in the 2018-19 season.

The second round series will see the Islanders return to the Barclays Center as their home ice after winning twice at the Nassau Coliseum in the opening round.

The Islanders will play at home in Game 1 Friday at 7 p.m. and Game 2 Sunday at 3 p.m.
