The Islanders are paying tribute to one of the all-time greats. Tomorrow, the team will retire number 91; worn by Butch Goring.
Goring joined the Isles in March of 1980.
He spent six seasons with the team, scoring 87 goals and 108 assists in 332 games.
In 1981, he won the Conn Smythe trophy, which goes to the most valuable player in the playoffs, after producing 10 goals and 10 assists in 18 postseason games.
Goring will be honored before tomorrow's game.
