Some Long Islanders took on a 5K at UBS Arena to support their neighbors with disabilities as the Islanders hosted "Race to the Rink" to benefit Easter-Seals New York.
The nonprofit provides services and opportunities to people with disabilities or special needs and their families.
"For me, it's humbling in a sense that you can show up and see all these Islanders fans that care about more than hockey. I think everyone's here for that exact reason -- raise money for a good cause. People that need support. [It] doesn't matter who you are. Islanders fans will have your back, so be part of that. It's special for me," said Thomas Hickey, of MSG Networks.
