The New York Islanders' new "Puppy with a Purpose" has been named Jethro by fans.
The team will take care of the 11-month-old Labrador retriever for the next 18 months while he trains to be a future guide dog.
Jethro was the center of the hockey team's "Paws and Pucks" calendar shoot on Tuesday.
The nonprofit "America's Vet Dogs" will eventually find Jethro a forever home.
