It will take 16 wins over four rounds in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the Islanders to bring home their fifth championship – and it began with an OT win Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh.
Before the game, Blue Line Deli & Bagels in Huntington was packed with fans who needed their blue and orange bagel fix.
Many told News 12 they were confident and excited for the playoffs to begin.
“Very excited to watch them win and bring the cup home to Long Island where belongs this year,” said Joann Fazziola, of Levittown.
Other fans were watching the game at Oyster Bay Brewing Company, where some of their beers are named in honor of the team like "Barn Rocker Ale” and “Identity Line Coffee Cream Ale.”
“It's the Islanders bar,” says Dan Rorke, of Huntington. “You got to go where are you can have other fans who support the team.”
On Thursday, the Isles will host the Penguins for Game 3 of the series at the Nassau Coliseum. It will be filled to almost 50% capacity, with separate seating for vaccinated and unvaccinated fans.
