A would-be burglar appeared to have second thoughts after being confronted by a Hicksville homeowner Saturday night.
Police say Shane Lopez was caught at around 11 p.m., moments after he allegedly broke a window and entered a West Avenue home.
When he was confronted by the woman who lives there, police say Lopez said, "I'm sorry," and took off.
Responding officers followed a trail of blood to a nearby parking lot and arrested Lopez on a charge of second-degree burglary.
Police say there were no proceeds from the break-in.
