For
the first time in United States history, a former president may be indicted for
a crime.
Meanwhile, Long Islanders are reacting to the latest developments
in the case.
Some residents in Merrick tell News 12 enough is enough and the
case seems more political than anything else.
One resident says, “I think it’s ridiculous, I think that the
playing field is not even, and what goes for one should for the other, and to
me it sees like a political witch hunt.”
Another
resident tells News 12 “I’m OK with it, you break the law you get arrested.”
News 12 checked in with police for how they are
preparing if the former president is arrested.
Nassau Commissioner of Police
Patrick Ryder said in a statement: "The Nassau County Police Department
has had daily intelligence briefings on the matter. If there is a location of
concern, it will be addressed immediately with the proper resources as we are
always prepared."
In Suffolk, they tell News 12 they have not heard of
any protests or rallies planned, but they are remaining vigilant.
