A pumpkin smashed a moving vehicle's windshield in Suffolk County early Sunday.
The incident happened at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday on Townline Road in Hauppauge when someone in a separate car going the opposite direction thew the pumpkin.
"I saw an orange blur, glass shattered, I closed my eyes, flashed back, they opened and I realized what it was," says Nick Costi of Hauppauge.
The impact caused Costi to briefly black out, but fortunately no one was hurt.
The driver's mother, Lisa Costi, rushed to the scene with her husband and is hoping police can track down the person responsible.
"This was a crime - this was an awful act," Lisa Costi says. "There's no way someone would have thought this was funny."
Nick Costi is still shaken up and hasn't driven since the incident.
He says if he had lost control of the car - he and his girlfriend could have been seriously hurt or possibly killed.
"Just really grateful - that could have been a lot worse," Nick Costi says "I'm glad me and her are both OK, I'm happy to be alive still."
Police responded to the scene and are still investigating. No arrests have been made so far.
Nick Costi says the car was supposed to have been sold on Sunday. His plan now is to get the windshield fixed and then move forward with the sale.
