A North Bellmore man convicted of conspiring to have his wife murdered was sentenced Wednesday.
Santhosh Paul, 31, was sentenced to five to 15 years in prison. Paul met with an undercover police officer, who he thought was a hit man, on three occasions. At one meeting, Paul brought his son along to wait in the car as he and the "hit man" discussed how the boy's mother would be killed.
Tina Paul, however, has stood by her husband's side. She said through an attorney that she loves him and will be waiting when he gets out of prison.
"I'm still baffled by that," said Assistant District Attorney Anne Donnelly.
Santhosh Paul said he too wants to make amends. "I love her very much," he said. "I want to put this behind us and move forward."
