A Huntington Station man is accused of committing hate crimes against nuns.
Police say 31-year-old Roberto Pantoja went to the Saint Hugh of Lincoln Convent twice last month and stole property and cash.
They say Pantoja admitted to the crimes when he was arrested.
"His motivation, part of it was the theft and part of it was based on some of the statements he made," says Detective Sgt. James Brierton. "It appeared to be based more on the religious practices taking place there."
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Suffolk's Hate Crimes Unit at 631-852-6323.
