Hundreds of people took part in an annual event Sunday to raise funds and awareness for people with developmental disabilities.
The 35th annual AHRC walk was held at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, and the motto was "Moving ahead, leaving no one behind."
Close to 1,200 took part in the walk.
Organizers say that people with developmental and intellectual disabilities are ready and able to contribute to the workforce, but are often under-employed. They say all they really need is a chance to contribute.
Organizers hoped to raise close to $100,000 that will go directly to health and recreational services for those with disabilities.
