Officials say someone has stolen hundreds of pieces of mail in Freeport.
According to officials, about 600 letters, bills and checks were taken from two U.S. Postal Service relay boxes.
The two green boxes, located on West Merrick Road and Whaley Street, are used by mail carriers to pick up letters for their routes.
The mail was stolen on April 7.
U.S. Postal Service inspectors are investigating the incident. A letter has been sent out to those who may have had their mail stolen, alerting them to the theft.
Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call 877-876-2455.
