After a year serving in Iraq, dozens of families welcomed home soldiers of the New York Army National Guard on Saturday at MacArthur Airport.
For Staff Sgt. Michael Roeding, of Selden, it was a long awaited reunion.
"It's been a long year, the climate, the missions. But it's great to be home finally," says Roeding.
The families, who waited quietly for their troops to arrive, expressed relief that these men and women returned safely.
"We've all been through a lot, and I'm glad everyone made it through," says Christine Roeding, of Selden.
