A pair of horses that escaped from a barn in Westbury Wednesday morning, gave motorists quite a story to tell as they raced down Jericho Turnpike.
Oyster and Jenny trotted nearly a mile from their Jericho Turnpike stable to the Korean Evangelical Church on Ellison Avenue.
"I thought it was a police horse but no, they came into our church and the police blocked the door to keep them inside here,? Pastor Suk Kim says.
The horses grazed on the church?s lawn for almost four hours until the owners came to walk them back to the barn.
"We never expected to find them in Westbury,? owner Michael Dombek says. ?I had 10 to 12 friends looking in Westbury Gardens.?
Dombek rescued the former racing horses about six months ago after they were put out to pasture. He says it?s the first time they?ve escaped.
