This week, News 12 honors Stephanie Lennon of Lindenhurst. She has been using a Facebook group started to help local businesses. In the last two months, the mom of seven has raised almost $20,000 for businesses in Lindenhurst. Stephanie also encouraged residents to give back to our essential workers, providing over $1,300 worth of food purchased at local shops to the staff at Good Samaritan Hospital and lunch for our local funeral homes' staff.
Lauren Mikulus, of Bethpage, started volunteering on an app called Umbrella - where she shops and delivers groceries to seniors who need to stay at home. She also volunteers at an organization called We The People United Corp. And has helped raise $2,000 to feed our front liners. Lauren decided to do all this after recovering from COVID-19 in March.
Former NFL players from the Jets, Falcons, Lions, Colts, Saints, and Eagles all popped in on some Long Island workouts. Former Ohio State player and trainer Matt Johnson, got nine NFL players to motivate his Zoom classes as part of the Feed the People Challenge. The players gave inspiration and motivation, and it's all a fundraiser with proceeds going to help feed front-line workers.
