Suffolk police arrested a caregiver for allegedly stealing from an elderly woman she was employed by.
According to Sixth Precinct Investigative Unit detectives, Devika Ramcharran, 37, of North Bellport, was employed as a home health aide from Senior Helpers of Smithtown.
The 89-year-old victim noticed some of her jewelry was missing from her Oakdale Avenue residence in Selden and contacted police.
An investigation revealed Ramcharran had taken the items, valued at approximately $1200, on Sept. 28 and she was subsequently arrested.
She will be charged with grand larceny when she is arraigned in Central Islip later this month.
Detectives are asking anyone who feels they may be a victim of Ramcharran to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8622.
