Historic airplanes took to the skies this weekend as part of the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach.
The event features a show by the Geico Skytypers. Frank Atria, the teams' director of maintenance, says his job keeps history alive.
"You get to know that because of your efforts, there's going to be another generation that is going to get to see this," he says.
Pilot Tom Daly has aviation in his blood; his dad was a turret gunner in World War II.
"He would be thrilled to be up there," Daly says. "We did some flying together. He was my first passenger when I got my pilot's license."
Members of the Skytypers team say bringing the treasured planes to the public each year is crucial.
"Some of this stuff is going away," Daly says. "These airplanes were built in 1940. It's obviously a limited supply. Getting the people out to see them is terrific."
