A historic mural of Long Island has reached its new home.
The 9-by-16-foot painting hung in the Hicksville Sears store for more than 50 years. It's now hanging in the Hicksville Athletic Center.
Residents had worried about the mural's future when Sears closed, and property developers donated the money needed to remove and restore it.
Included on the mural are Teddy Roosevelt and Walt Whitman -- two transformative figures in the Hicksville area and Town of Oyster Bay.
