Latin pride was on display in Paterson on Thursday. The city hosted a reception to celebrate a Hispanic heritage art show at City Hall.

Employees and residents were asked to share art from various Latin-American countries. There were paintings, dolls, blankets and flags from a handful of countries. This included the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Peru, Colombia and Mexico.

Mayor Andre Sayegh says it is a celebration of the growing Hispanic population in Paterson.

"The last census - the 2020 census - indicates Latinos are on the rise in the city. Now they constitute 60% of our population,” Sayegh says. “We have the largest Dominican and Peruvian populations in the state of New Jersey and that's why we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month as much as we do."

The exhibit is on display whenever City Hall is open, which is on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
