Police say a high-speed chase that started in Suffolk County ended in a crash on the Long Island Expressway near Exit 46 Tuesday night.
Authorities say officers tried to stop a Jeep SUV near Ronkonkoma, but the car took off across the county border. The Jeep slammed into the median on the LIE before hitting a police vehicle and flipped onto its side at around 8 p.m. near Exit 46 in Plainview, police say.
Police say there were four people in the Jeep and at least two of them were injured in the crash. Several police officers were also hurt. All those injured were taken to a nearby hospital and are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities say.
Police say all four occupants of the Jeep were arrested, but charges have not been revealed.
