Nassau police called a murder-suicide at a Hicksville business a crime of passion Wednesday.
According to police, a man entered Botto Brothers Plumbing and Heating Supply Store at around 4 p.m. They say he chased a receptionist to the rear of the Woodbury Road business. He then allegedly began shooting her before turning the gun on himself. The victim, in her late 40s and a mother of two, purportedly recently ended a romantic relationship with the shooter.
Police say the woman was pronounced dead at NUMC, where she was rushed for treatment. The shooter died at the scene of the crime.
