A Roosevelt High School student picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents is due in court today, three months after being detained.
The attorney for Alvaro Castro Velasquez confirms to News 12 that the 19-year-old was detained during a traffic stop in June, weeks before he was set to graduate.
The Guatemalan native illegally entered the United States when he was 16 – but was granted special status and has no criminal record, the attorney said.
News 12 reached out to ICE for comment and is waiting to hear back.
