The Town of Hempstead is hoping to help homeowners cut through all the red tape when rebuilding from storms like Superstorm Sandy.
The Hempstead town supervisor unveiled a new proposal today that would reduce the cost of elevating homes in FEMA flood zones and speed up the rebuilding process.
Under the plan, each homeowner could also save $1,000 or more.
