Hempstead residents rallied Sunday in support of Lamont Johnson, a school board trustee who was recently removed from his position.
Officials say Johnson violated district policy by disclosing the names and addresses of district employees.
Supporters, however, tell News 12 they believe Johnson was removed without the chance to defend himself.
"We will go to Albany,” said Brad Pulling, a speaker at Sunday’s rally. “We will go to the Department of Justice, and we will overturn this unjust decision."
The school board President says Johnson was removed because he used his position to provide privileged information to impact the recent elections.
