Hempstead officers honored for apprehending armed suspects in busy commuter area

The Hempstead police officers responsible for catching three armed suspects accused of having drugs around a busy LIRR station were honored Tuesday at Village Hall.

Detectives say 19-year-old Tyshawn Parsons, 18-year-old Shamar Jackson and a 17-year-old were arrested on Friday after trying to run from the officers in Hempstead.

Three loaded handguns and 500 grams of cocaine were recovered following the arrest, according to detectives.

Authorities say the three suspects are all facing multiple weapons charges.
