A new agreement struck between the Town of Hempstead and NextG Networks wireless company may put to rest residents? concerns about antennas around town.
The company was installing brown boxes and low-power cell site antennas on utility poles without approval. Since the company is considered a utility, it did not need permission. The deal though calls for NextG to install boxes on town property when possible. The company will also re-evaluate some current locations, give 30 days notice before constructing new antennas and get permits for new poles.
Homeowners had complained about the unsightliness of the boxes and feared possible health hazards.
