HEAT ALERT: Very warm and humid for Wednesday; multiple chances for rain through Saturday

A heat advisory is in effect for Nassau County and northwest Suffolk through Wedensay until 8 p.m. with feels-like temps of 95 to 100 degrees.
News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Sam Augeri says hot and humid weather continues this week with some tropical downpours ahead.
HEADLINES:
  • More very warm and humid weather coming up. Hot spots will be on the North Shore, fog and low clouds could linger along the South Shore and East End again Wednesday keeping numbers down and well below advisory criteria.
  • Some rain chances ahead. First up late Wednesday night into Thursday morning we have some showers that will clear by Thursday afternoon. There's the chance for some tropical downpours late Friday into Saturday morning. Right now the placement of that heavy rain is mostly south and east but we need to watch the trends carefully.
  • Sunday will be the better weekend day with hot temps and slightly lower humidity heading into next week
OVERNIGHT: Mostly cloudy and muggy with areas of fog. Lows near 74 degrees with south winds 5 to 10 mph. Sunrise: 5:30
WEDNESDAY: Very warm and humid with fog and clouds in the morning. Becoming partly sunny with highs near 84. South wind 5 to 15 mph. Sunset: 8:25. Cloudy with some showers and fog late at night. Lows near 73. South wind 10 to 15 mph.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny, warm, and humid with the chance for showers in the morning, improving for the afternoon. Highs near 84. Lows near 72.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny, warm, and humid. Chance for scattered showers and storms late in the day and at night. Highs near 83. Lows near 72.
