WHAT'S NEW: A chance for scattered thunderstorms arrives Thursday afternoon, and some could be strong to severe. There could be damaging winds and quarter-size hail, and a possible tornado or two can't be ruled out.
WHAT'S NEXT: The heat is expected to break next week.

FORECAST:
THURSDAY: HEAT ALERT & Weather To Watch – A mix of sun and clouds is around during the day, with a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms for the afternoon and evening hours. Hot and humid conditions continue with highs around 95, feeling like 100 to 105 degrees.
FRIDAY: HEAT ALERT – Mostly sunny and very warm but not as humid as Wednesday and Thursday. Highs around 92 degrees. Lows around 73.
SATURDAY: HEAT ALERT - Mainly sunny, hot and humid. Highs around 94 degrees. Lows around 75.
SUNDAY: HEAT ALERT – Partly cloudy with a late-day chance for showers and storms. Highs around 95. Lows around 73.
NEXT WEEK: The heat finally breaks. We'll have a chance for rain and storms on Monday as a cold front moves through slowly. Temps and humidity levels go down for Tuesday and then we stay in the upper-80s the rest of the week.
