Jake’s 58 temporarily evacuated as emergency crews respond to report of hazmat situation

Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel was temporarily evacuated at around 1 p.m. Friday as emergency crews responded to a report of a hazmat incident.

The general manager of Jake’s 58 tells News 12 at least two employees were performing a welfare check at a hotel room when they required medical attention.

Suffolk County police says there was a chemical odor. The employees were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The casino was reopened at around 2:30 p.m. Police say the situation was not hazardous to the public.
