Demonstrators rallied in front of Republican Rep. Peter King's Seaford property Thursday to display their opposition to his stance on health care reform. 

The congressman voted to pass the American Health Care Act last week, which is a first step in repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act. 

Protesters say they are worried about the bill's deep cuts to Medicaid and weakening of protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Many of the protesters were members of the Long Island Transgender Advocacy Coalition.

"Most people that belong to transgender community are either unemployed or underemployed, so getting health care is a problem," said Julie Grey-Owens. "When you add on pre-existing conditions, it will price medical care and health care completely out of the reach for most of our community members, and we believe health care is a human right."

Rep. King was not home to hear the protesters' complaints. In a phone interview with News 12 Long Island, he condemned the protesters for showing up at his private home and disturbing his neighbors.

"This is absolutely shameful, it's disgraceful, something I would never do…I think it shows the type of opposition out there," King said. 

The protesters also signed a giant Mother's Day card that they left on the congressman's front door to symbolize what they say is the devastating effect that "Trumpcare" will have on all women.
