A woman was killed and two other people were injured in a head-on collision in Hempstead.

Police say two vehicles collided on Front Street near Orchid Street around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Diamond Hawkins, 25, of Lakeview, was pronounced dead. A 33-year-old occupant of the car that Hawkins was in was also hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Police say they are investigating to determine who was driving.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 59-year-old male, was taken to the hospital with complaints of pain.

No criminal charges have been filed in the case. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
