A ceremony was held Saturday to rename a street in Hauppauge after a volunteer firefighter who died in the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Peter Brennan, a New York City firefighter and Ronkonkoma native, was also a volunteer in Hauppauge.
In early 2001 Brennan received Hauppauge?s Medal of Valor for helping save three of his fellow firefighters trapped in a house fire. He was also honored after he saved an elderly couple during an apartment fire in New York City.
"After five years people tend to forget. Things like this brings it out and remind people of all sacrifices he made that day,? his sister Nancy Brennan Poulis said.
Many including family, friends and colleagues spoke at the ceremony.
