Harborfields HS moves to remote learning after student tests positive for COVID-19

In a letter home to parents, the district says the Suffolk Department of Health has initiated contact tracing.

More Long Island schools are dealing with COVID-19 cases as the school year continues. 
Smithtown Central School District shared in a letter home to parents that a student from Smithtown High School West tested positive for the virus.
In the letter, the superintendent says the student was last in the building on Sept. 11. They say an investigation has begun and contact tracing has been initiated by the Suffolk Department of Health.
Meanwhile, Harborfields High School has shifted to fully remote instruction today and tomorrow. The move comes after the district says a Harborfields High School student has tested positive for COVID-19. In a letter home to parents, the district says the Suffolk Department of Health has initiated contact tracing.
News 12 has also learned of a COVID-19 case in the Islip District. News 12 has been told a student at Sherwood Elementary School has tested positive. That student was last in the building last Tuesday. The children in that class and those who rode the bus with the child will now quarantine until Sept. 30. The health department has been notified.
