A wildlife center supervisor believes a 14-year-old falcon has been stolen from a facility in Locust Valley.
Jim Jones, of the Volunteers for Wildlife, says "Buster" has been missing since Friday.
Jones says the falcon was tethered to a cage by a leash, which was found to be cut.
He says Buster was also stolen from his nest at a very young age and kept inside an apartment.
"He requires specialized care, a very specific diet and if somebody were to free him, he has no ability to hunt for food out in the wild," says Jones.
Jones says he is hoping whoever took the bird will bring him back unharmed.
"We don't care who you are, why you took him, we just want him back," he told News 12 Long Island.
Anyone with information about Buster's whereabouts can call 631-332-0852.
