The parent of a student at Half Hollow Hills School District has been arrested after police say he made a threat of mass harm against the district.
According to police, the threat made was to shoot and blow up Half Hollow Hills East High School.
As mentioned by the district, the threat came from a parent.
The district sent a letter to parents on Thursday night stating that “several inappropriate messages were left on the voicemail of a central office administrator including threatening statements toward the administrator and others.
The district contacted the Suffolk County Police Department and filed a report and has been cooperating with their ongoing investigation.”
In addition, the district has also barred the individual from all district properties and school-sponsored events.
Police have identified the parent as Christopher Ryan, 42, of Patchogue.
Ryan was charged with making a threat of mass harm.
He is scheduled to be arraigned today.
