A group supporting the Shinnecock Nation's controversial billboard has started a monthlong protest in Hampton Bays.
The protesters will be camping out at Canoe Place near Sunrise Highway.
They say New York state has stood in the way of the Shinnecock Nation's economic development, and they are demanding the state drop its lawsuit against the Shinnecock's 60-foot-high billboard.
As News 12 has reported, the state and town of Southampton argue the sign is a distraction to drivers.
