Group effort helps save 29-year-old horse from ice and mud

The owners, animal and equine rescue groups, as well as the Islip Terrace Fire Department, all worked together get Renegade standing again.

It took a group effort to aid a 29-year-old horse that was in distress Tuesday after falling on ice and mud near his stall in the back of his Islip Terrace home.
The horse, Renegade, was stuck on the ground for hours and was losing circulation in his legs.
The owners, animal and equine rescue groups, as well as the Islip Terrace Fire Department, all worked together get Renegade standing again.

He was given warm fluids and appeared to be doing much better.
