A groundbreaking took place at the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum Thursday.
The museum is being built next to the Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville.
The museum is dedicated to Navy SEALs and named for Patchogue's Michael Murphy.
Murphy was killed in Afghanistan in 2005 and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
As News 12 has reported, Suffolk County got a state grant last year to build the museum. It will include space for Navy Sea Cadet training and will be the first Navy SEAL museum in the Northeast.
