Nearly two million pounds of ground beef have been recalled because it could be tainted with E. coli.
USDA investigators say they are now concerned that the same beef might have been sent to grocery stores and retailers nationwide.
Officials say at least 11 people have gotten sick from the beef across four states. The bacteria was traced to Wolverine Packing Company, a Detroit firm.
The recalled products were shipped to distributors for restaurants throughout Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio.
There is no word if the meat made it here to New York.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, the recalled products have the establishment number "2574B" printed on them and have a production date between March 31 and April 18.
Food safety experts say the best way for consumers to lower their risk of getting sick is to avoid ordering undercooked burgers.
