An enormous great white shark spent Tuesday off the coast of Long Island's South Shore.
The shark, known as "Mary Lee," is 16 feet long and weighs 3,500 pounds. Researchers have been tracking her since they tagged the shark in 2012. Her last known location was just west of Fire Island Tuesday morning.
Although some at Jones Beach were afraid to step foot into the water, many were excited about Mary Lee's visit to Long Island. People were scanning the ocean, but there was no sign of the shark.
Mary Lee's movements can be followed on the website "Ocearch."
