Seventeen preschool students battling cancer graduated from nursery school Wednesday during a special ceremony at the Morgan Center in Hicksville.
Each child received their diploma during the ceremony, which included lots of singing and dancing.
Rod and Nancy Zuch started the nursery school 14 years ago after their daughter, Morgan, was diagnosed with cancer. They began the school after realizing kids with cancer had nowhere to go.
"We were very fortunate that Morgan's doing well…cured of cancer," says Rod Zuch. "It's our way of giving back."
Morgan, who is an honor roll student at Marist College, was also at the ceremony.
"These kids get to experience things I didn't have," she says. "I was just home and in the hospital. It's amazing to have a place where they can socialize, learn, make friends and have parties like this."
The Zuch family says they are planning to open up another nursery school in Orlando.
