Gov. David Paterson was diagnosed with acute glaucoma in his left eye Tuesday and underwent an outpatient laser procedure.
Paterson admitted himself to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan Tuesday morning after experiencing migraine-like symptoms.
The routine procedure relieved pressure around the eye that was caused by the buildup of fluid. Paterson's office said in a statement that the procedure "will not have any long-term impact on the governor's overall health."
Paterson remained conscious during the procedure, but the Senate majority leader and the Assembly speaker were advised of the situation, according to the governor?s office.
