Gov. Cuomo touts opening of new Moynihan Train Hall

It's a new era for New York commuters as officials gave a first look inside the new Moynihan Train Hall inside Penn Station.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo touted what he calls one of the city's most ambitious infrastructure projects in decades.
The transformation of the iconic Farley Post Office Building gives riders a new way to get in and out of trains at Penn Station. It's named after late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who first came up with the idea decades ago.
"Moynihan Train Hall is the fully functioning transit hub designed for New York, it will be an aggressive catalyst for the state economic growth," says Eric Gertler, president of Empire State Development.
As more commuters eventually hope to return to Penn Station, they will be welcomed by an acre of glass skylights, art installations and 92-foot-high ceilings, more platforms, stairs, elevators, free Wi-Fi, dedicated lounges and new commercial and retail space, making it more efficient for riders.
The project was on time despite the pandemic, and on budget to the tune of $1.6 billion.
The facility is slated to open New Year's Day.
