More than 100 residents packed a public meeting in Glen Cove City Hall to protest a proposed condominium complex.
Developer Daniel Livingston wants to build a 194-unit condominium complex known as The Villa. The condos would be 2 1/2 to 4 stories high and spread across nearly four acres of land on Glen Cove Avenue. Livingston says the project would beautify and revitalize downtown Glen Cove.
But many residents, especially those who live near the proposed complex, say it would turn their quiet suburb into a mini-city.
Residents sounded off during the meeting saying that the proposed condos would create a privacy issue and destroy surrounding trees.
Mayor Reginald Spinello says public feedback is an important part of the city council's decision-making process. He says a date has not been set for a vote on the project.
The mayor says the city council needs to look at all the options and consider all the public comments before making a decision.
